The Dark Side of Social Media: How It Is Affecting Mental Health and Society

Social media has transformed the way we interact with each other and consume information. However, as the use of social media has grown, so has its dark side. The impact of social media on our mental health and society is becoming increasingly apparent, raising serious concerns about its long-term effects.

Moreover, the blue light emitted by electronic devices can disrupt our sleep patterns, leading to sleep deprivation and related health problems.

Addiction to social media can lead to an unhealthy dependence on electronic devices, with individuals becoming increasingly detached from the real world.

Finally, the impact of social media on society is becoming increasingly apparent. Social media has been linked to the spread of misinformation, which can have serious consequences for public health and safety. Moreover, the use of social media has been linked to the erosion of privacy, with individuals becoming increasingly vulnerable to online surveillance and hacking.

While social media has many benefits, it also has a dark side that can have serious consequences for our mental health and society as a whole. Satyamev Jayate Returns

Star Plus aired a talk show named “Satyamev Jayate” hosted by Aamir Khan, a super talented star of Bollywood on 6Th May 2012. The talk show was produced by Aamir Khan Production which is handled by Aamir Khan himself and his wife Kiran Rao. SMJ was directed by Satyajit Bhatkal and it was a series on burning issues of Indian societies. Satyamev Jayate proved its popularity and given the remembrance of the time of 80’s and 90’s when Mahabharat and Ramayan created such a huge popularity in society. That time they created curfew situation on the roads during the telecast on Sunday. Like the same Satyamev Jayate made people curious for what will be raised in the upcoming episode. The talk show was in Hindi language and also translated in Punjabi, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and English. The show was aired in more than 100 countries and it was an achievement for any of Indian talk show. The show was aired till 29Th July 2012 and one special episode aired on 15Th August 2012 on Independence Day of India. It was a chain of 14 episodes on various issues of society which are directly or indirectly touching to human lives or the lives on the earth. Each episode of SMJ has a special massage and a special song written in sense of that topic. Let’s make a look for some of episode’s content.

As the first episode aired SMJ got unexpected response from the Indian audience. First episode initially got the traffic only due to Aamir Khan but than after all traffic came due to only content of the series. First episode was on the issue of “Female foeticide in India” with the massage of “Daughters are precious”. Female foeticide is not new in India but since some time it became very serious issue came out from research. It found high in highly qualified families too. Second episode came with child abuse and shocking matter was the research again. The survey said that every second child is a victim of the child abuse. Also the episode proves a very serious thing was, child abusing starts from the home and also by very close relatives. Fifth episode again targeted to those who became self lawyer of the society and became a cause of honor killing and the love marriages in society. Due to this only India lost very talented girls in past. Seventh episode was for domestic violence and people of India seen a dark side of even well educated, high status holder businessmen and high social peoples domestic violence issues. Season of 14 episodes raised many issues like Dowry System, Physical Disabilities, Organic Farming, Alcohol Abuse, Rain Water Harvesting and Casteisum and Untouchability.

Now it is heard through sources and also declared on the official website of Satyamev Jayate [http://www.satyamevjayate.in/] that it will be on aired on the same channel (i.e. Star Plus) at 11 AM on Every Sunday of March-2014. Popularity of Satyamev Jayate is a landmark for talk shows now days.

Hope second season will also put its own milestone.
